The team members live
in a Bedouin tent on the mountain plateau during the field seasons. |
 |
The electricity is produced by solar cells - there is plenty of
sunshine!
The electricity is needed for the batteries of measurement and camera
equipment, computers etc. Cellular phones and e-mail was used to be in
touch with Petra, Amman and Helsinki.

 |
Lunch break at half
past one in the afternoon ends the daily work at the excavation site. |
|
Shower and toilet
tents were specially designed for the project. Water has to be rationed
as all of it is transported from Petra in jerry cans and carried up by
donkeys.
|
 |
After siesta it is
time to wash and sort the pottery found during the day's work.
|
 |
After the evening
meal at sunset we retire to fill-in our notebooks and to write e-mails
and diaries.
